Costa Rica service project to refurbish school buildings in Alajuela

May 05, 2009

Lisa Kaiser Hickey and Michael J Hickey of Douglass Screen Printers, Inc recently spent time on a service project mission to Costa Rica along with a small group from the Lakeland Rotary Club.

The club’s project was to help refurbish school buildings in Alajuela. Prior to the trip, earthquakes damaged some of the schools so the group devoted its efforts to a single school. Douglass Screen Printers has collected a donation of dishes and other kitchen items for the school and welcomes any other contributions of kitchen or school supplies that the public wishes to make. Athletic equipment for the elementary school students is also needed. Lisa, Michael and the club team cleaned and painted the entire school building including its restrooms and several classrooms.
