Douglass Screen Printers, Inc.
Douglass Screen Printers,
Inc. is a proud sponsor of the new Kaleidoscope, Butterflies in
Flight community project. This project will not only raise money
to benefit CommonGround, an inclusive playground for children of
all abilities, but other local charities as well. This project will
enrich cultural activity and have a positive impact on our community.
The Kaleidoscope, Butterflies
in Flight project offers sponsors a unique way to advertise and
showcase their company’s products and services, while supporting
the city, the arts, and local non-profit organizations. Douglass
Screen Printers, as well as other monarch sponsors, will have an
aluminum butterfly that will be mounted on a raised pole and displayed
in various downtown locations during the months of October 2006
through April 2007. In the spring of 2007, the Kaleidoscope butterflies
will be collected from the downtown area and sold at “The Butterfly
Ball” auction. Fifty percent of the proceeds from an auctioned butterfly
will go to a local charity of the benefactor’s choice. The remaining
50% will go towards assisting the construction expenses of the CommonGround
play experience. This park itself will be in the shape of a butterfly
which is a symbolic representation of the individuality and unique
character of every child.
CommonGround will be
Lakeland’s first “inclusive play experience,” a term used to describe
non-traditional play areas. Children of varying abilities and disabilities
will be able to play together side-by-side. It will be more than
just a playground; it will be a play experience designed for families
with children of all ages and stages of development. It will be
the first public inclusive park built in Polk County, and will provide
an outdoor play area for approximately 15,000 special needs children
located in our county. This park will be located on Edgewood Drive,
adjacent to the Beerman Tennis Center and across from the Cleveland
Heights Golf Course.
Douglass Screen Printers,
Inc. is a proud to be a Monarch Sponsor of this wonderful project.
We look forward to our involvement in this project. All butterflies
will be unveiled on October 14, 2006 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, at
the “Butterfly Bash” event so mark your calendars!
