Douglass Screen Printers, Inc.
Larry Villa, Joseph
Houchens, and Suzanne Nelson, recently attended “The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective Managers” seminar in Orlando. The course teaches
you how to apply universal principles and processes of effectiveness
to your role as manager. This course teaches you:
- How to be proactive
and begin to choose how you respond to circumstances instead of
automatically reacting to them.
- How to be a personal
leader and live with wisdom, mission, and purpose. Discovering
how these personal attributes align with your organization’s values
so that you will manage with focus and passion.
- How to put first
things first. Treat each other as you would like to be treated,
mean what you say and collaborate effectively.
- How to think “Win-Win”.
Build managerial trustworthiness (the private victory), influence
others and inspire trust within teams. The public victory begins
when you cooperate so that everyone wins. Encourage cooperation
by seeking mutual benefit-solutions.
- How to understand
before attempting to be understood. Develop an attitude of seeking
to understand others first before trying to express your views.
This will enable you to become a manager others trust.
- How to synergize-the
habit of creative cooperation. Listen first to the other person,
restating both the content of the person’s point of view and how
you perceive they feel about it making sure they feel understood.
State your position and have them state it back to you so that
they understand your feelings. Then you are both ready to work
towards a solution.
- How to sharpen the
saw. Identifying the specific areas or dimensions that need improvement
and then focusing on those areas.
Larry, Joseph and Suzanne
were sent to this seminar in hopes that what they would learn would
not only improve their already extraordinary management and organizational
skills but also enhance their roles as managers.
