LAKELAND -- Douglass Screen Printers
(DSP) has been recognized by WBENC (Women Business Enterprise National
Council), NWBOC (National Women’s Business Owners Corporation),
and the State of Florida as a Woman Business Enterprise and as a
Woman Owned Business. These certifications assist DSP in the procurement
and vendor diversity sectors and allow for a woman owned business
to expand their marketing opportunities and eliminate barriers in
the marketplace.
WBENC is the nation’s
leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America’s
corporations. WBENC also provides its corporate members and certified
WBEs with access to a range of B2B sourcing tools including, an
internet database that contains information on certified women’s
businesses for purchasing managers nationwide.
NWBOC provides a national
certification program for women owned and controlled business as
an alternative to the multiple state and local certifications required
by many public and private sector agencies. NWBOC was created in
response to needs identified by the Procurement Special Interest
Group of NAWBO. The investigation revealed that the public and private
sector had not received nor recognized the benefits of contracting
with women suppliers. This has prevented purchasers from obtaining
the best value in their procurements and it has limited women business
owners from penetrating these markets. NWBOC seeks to provide more
corporations with the opportunity to better their procurement practices
and to women suppliers the opportunity to compete.
The State of Florida
also provides a better process for women owned businesses to acquire
knowledge and resources for procurement. Through their Diversity
program, women owned businesses can compete with non minority business
and be recognized when contracts are awarded. This is a major accomplishment
for DSP and its President/CEO Lisa Kaiser Hickey. This shows their
determination to uphold the DSP’s image of quality.
